Mending Things

There’s something sweet about mending things.

Sewing shiny beads back onto broken fairy wings.

Patching a hole that would have otherwise let the cold in.

Gluing back together a damaged teacup.

Healing a gentle heart that was broken before you found it.

Putting the nose back on a melting snowman.

Stabilizing a leaning tree.

Wiping tears from an innocent cheek.

Setting the stone back on top of the mountain peak.

Greasing the squeaky wheel.

Shining up the silver.

Polishing the glasses.

Perfecting the Arabesque.

Turning the D into a B.

Letting trapped things go free.

Everyone wants something new, but I like mending things.

It’s sweeter when the broken things love you for fixing them.
